Squat started spontaneously as a unity of fashion designers who had the idea of presenting their work in different locations, closely followed by reversed idea of different authors presenting their work at the same location. Later Squat developed in concept of independent authors from different areas, mainly fashion, later graphics, interactive, fine art and recently theatre, who are joined together within realization of different artistic or commercial projects.
The concept of Squat is highly independent, working with the idea to choose the best possible team of independent authors  for the named project.  We can offer you a wide range of creative solutions supported by network of our selected experts and friends, always working within the needs of specific project.
Squat’s idea is highly selective. Most of the authors who began at Squat or were part of the projects are today highly established and successful in their own fields of work. The name Squat is recognized as a referee within his work as a platform that discovers new talents, specially in fashion design, giving a chance, means and place to work to young creatives that are recognized by Squat authors as high potentials.

At the beginning of Squat in 2005 there was no permanent location nor permanent address, it existed more as an idea or movement. Today we are located at the old city centre of Ljubljana, based in design studio where most of the ideas are born and gallery shop at Križevniška 5 which presents permanent selling exhibition of different renowned Slovenian designers and artists and organizes on regular basis exhibitions of guest authors.

In the field of theatre Squat started with costume design. Recently joined by young independent theatre director and actors by her choice in particular play Girl and the world, Squat as a platform for new talents and radical creativity took as well role of the producer.
